Learning Centre for Neurodiverse Children

A Safe Place for Your Child to Grow

A nurturing, neurodiverse learning centre in Elarduspark, where small groups, compassionate teaching, and personalised education help children grow in confidence and ability.

About Us

Helping nurture happy, healthy kids

Tin Roof House began from one mother’s desire to create a safe, flexible learning space for children who didn’t fit into the rigidity of traditional schooling.

In 2009, founder Tina-Lynn started homeschooling her own children, and what began as a small group of five has now grown into a thriving learning centre for neurodiverse Children in Elarduspark, celebrating over a decade of compassionate education.

One-room, home-style learning environments allow children to learn comfortably and confidently, supported by educators who see and understand their individual needs. With puppies, guinea pigs and cats as part of the family, every day is filled with warmth, curiosity and care.

Our parents say it best — “Tin Roof House has become a second home where our children rediscover joy, confidence and curiosity in learning.”

Small Groups. Big Growth.

Cottage Kids (Grade R-3)

A gentle introduction to learning, combining literacy, numeracy and life skills through play, creativity and routine. Using UK and US educational resources, we build a world-class foundation for future learning.

House Kids (Grade 4-9)

Expanding knowledge and independence, our middle years include English, Maths, Afrikaans, World History, Geography and Art. Students explore through hands-on “Unit Studies” that encourage curiosity and connection.

College Kids (Grade 10+)

A supportive, calm environment for older students working toward Cambridge, GED® , or American High School Diploma. Tutors are subject experts who meet each learner emotionally and academically — helping every student prepare for life beyond the classroom.

Why Choose Us

Every child deserves the time they need

No child is “too slow,” “too anxious,” “too busy,” or “too much.”
We give each learner the time, tools and encouragement they need to reach their potential in their own way.

Our goal is to nurture capable, confident, curious learners — children who trust themselves, feel seen and experience school as a positive, empowering part of their lives.

Parents know their children best. We communicate openly, working with therapists when needed and walk the educational journey together. When school and home support each other, children flourish.

Every child learns differently

We believe that each child arrives with their own strengths, sensitivities, pace and way of understanding the world. Our job is to adapt to them, not force them into a system that doesn’t fit. Learning should honour individuality.

Emotional safety comes before academic progress

A child who feels safe, calm and valued is a child who can learn. We place connection, patience and emotional wellbeing at the heart of our school day — because learning only happens when children feel secure.

Small groups create big confidence

With classes of just a few students, we get to know every child personally. Small-group and one-on-one teaching allows us to support each learner’s needs, celebrate their strengths and gently guide them through challenges.

Precious moments captured

We welcome families who are looking for a calm, nurturing environment where their children can learn at their own pace. Our process is simple and supportive from start to finish

What we offer at Tin Roof House

Personalised Learning

Every child receives one-on-one attention and small-group lessons tailored to their needs. We follow each learner’s pace, strengths and readiness — no pressure, no comparisons, just genuine growth.

Calm, Home-Like Environment

Our classrooms feel warm, safe, and welcoming. From porridge in the mornings to friendly pets in the garden, children learn in a space that supports confidence, comfort and emotional wellbeing.

Outdoor Play & Movement

Fresh air and movement are essential to our day. From basketball and garden play to sandpit time and group games, children reset their energy and strengthen coordination through active, screen-free play.

Small Groups & One-on-One Support

We intentionally keep our class sizes tiny, allowing us to teach in groups of three and spend focused time with each child. This ensures deeper understanding, mastery and real academic progress.

Creative Learning & Enrichment

Art, hands-on lessons and themed activities help children explore, create and express themselves. Thursday art classes and daily dance sessions keep learning joyful and imaginative.

Independent Growth & Study Skills

Older students develop independence through structured daily work, subject tutoring and guided support across Cambridge, GED® and American High School Diploma pathways. WhatsApp homework support ensures no learner is left behind.

What lovely moms & dads are saying!

I can really say that every morning when I drop off my boys, my heart is at peace because I know they are getting the proper education, they are being stimulated on all levels and respect, discipline and love is the root of the schools foundation according to me. Thank you Ms Tina and staff

I am so grateful to Tin Roof House for giving us hope again after many failed experiences at other learning centres. Our daughter went from an anxious, stressed child that could not function at school, to a happy, flourishing and confident kid in a matter of weeks. The staff at Tin Roof are sensitive to each individual child's needs, and have been beyond patient with our daughter's sensitive temperament. They make learning fun and practical for young children, without putting unnecessary academic pressure on them. We also love that they teach social skills, physical development and important life skills, all while the kids are having fun in a comfortable, homely setting. I highly recommend Tin Roof House for any out-the- box child or a more personalized learning environment. Parent of Grade R and Grade 1

Our eldest daughter has been part of the Tin Roof House family for about three years, and the support she gets is amazing. Since 2024, we’ve enrolled our three younger daughters as well, thanks to the significant academic progress we saw in our eldest. The school gives me peace of mind, knowing my children can complete their work independently, fostering valuable problem-solving skills. The teachers are supportive, and the syllabus allows my kids to be more advanced compared to their friends in other schools. We’re so happy with the school that we’ve already marked our calendars to enrol our next child in 2030—might as well reserve the spot now! Parent of Grade R, Grade 1, Grade 3 and Grade 11.
